Introducing: Randy Main
Previous Owner of Main's Lock Supply and IC Cores Legend
Recently, I had the pleasure to sit down with a true legend in the world of IC Cores and the locksmithing trade, Mr. Randy Main.
Randy Main, was the previous owner of Main’s Lock Supply, an IC Core Specialty Store and “key shop” located in Yucaipa, CA. A 40-year veteran of the locksmithing industry, he discussed how he first got started in the field, his passions and hobbies, and his career journey that would ultimately lead to a blossoming and successful partnership with American Key Supply and ICCores.com.
“One day, a lock was difficult for me to get to and replace. So, I thought…let’s put an IC Core in there instead. The company I was working for gave me a hundred at a time and pretty soon, I was so busy that I didn’t even have time for my key shop!” —R. Main
This was how Randy was redirected from ownership of his key shop, into the business of IC Cores on a wholesale level, nationwide. It was through this new pathway that he found great success for over 30 years. Most wholesalers Randy encountered had very little inventory or knowledge of IC Cores, so his skills, experience and direction was much needed.
“There are situations where there are doors that you have to take completely apart to get the cylinder out. This is ridiculous! You want to spend 45 minutes or 2 seconds at that door? It’s a no-brainer!” —R. Main
Randy explained how most businesses could greatly benefit from utilizing IC Cores, for the ease of saving time and money on every single door. It greatly reduces the manpower and need for extra tools, as the business owners themselves are able to switch out the core with a simple master key, without the need of a locksmith on site.
When asked how his relationship and journey with American Key Supply began, Randy informed me that Cary Stevens was originally one of his many customers. But after over 30 years, Randy decided it was time to sell his company and retire. It was at that time that Cary stepped in and lead the charge. Randy said thanks to American Key Supply, his little dream has continued to grow and thrive and is “reaching the stars” and that he “could not be happier.”

Randy sold his key shop, Main’s Lock Supply and it eventually went out of business under the 3rd owner. His IC Cores business, however, is still growing and thriving with American Key Supply and ICCores.com. Randy visits us here at the AKS Headquarters in Las Vegas quite often and brings his knowledge, skills, passion, and bright personality to assist with different jobs and the department growth and direction—assisting in training, development, and more.
Aside from that, Randy spends much of his time at his desert home in Goldfield, Nevada, a historic, living ghost town dating back to the early 1900’s. He also enjoys old cars, playing the piano, and spending time with friends and family.
